We had the privilege of shooting the wedding for our friends Solomon Chau and Jennifer Carter a couple of weekends ago. Originally planned for August, the couple had to bring up the wedding date and with the help of friends, family, and the community at large, were able to have an incredibly moving, beautiful and unforgettable ceremony and reception.
The details of the day were largely a surprise as the bride and groom relished in surprises at every corner – from the transportation, the venue, the reception details, cinematography and all the in betweens. The generosity of the people at Liberty group (www.casaloma.org) was incredibly moving. They truly went above and beyond to ensure that this day was never forgotten – for all those attending. The day began at the Ritz Carlton in Toronto where the bride and groom got ready with their bridal party. The energy was joyous and celebratory. Laughter and smiles. The couple had planned to have a private reveal in one of the bridal suites. A touching and intimate momment between them both. From the moment Sol laid eyes on Jenn all he could say was how beautiful she looked. They were both beaming.
After the reveal the bridal party was picked up by quite possibly the largest TRUCK/LIMO we have ever seen. They were whisked away to the ceremony/reception venue — which to Jenn and Sol was a complete surprise. Much to their surprise — their jaws dropped when they saw they had been taken to Toronto’s most romantic fairytale castle….Casa Loma. Working with such a picturesque venue was a real treat for us – the grounds are just beautiful to photograph and how could any bride and groom not feel like a queen/king for the day.
After photo’s the ceremony commenced in the beautiful Conservatory room. The couple exchanged vows and rings before 70 or so friends and family. The room was lavishly covered in flowers and candles.
Cocktails and appetizers were served in the Great Hall which was then proceeded by an incredible 3 course meal in the Library. Speeches were given and many toasts. And the day would not have been complete with another surprise for the bride and groom — a flashmob put on by their bridal party to mimic the flashmob that was orchestrated by Sol when he proposed to Jenn. The couple had their first dance as everyone encircled them and celebrated their love. It was a perfect evening and one we will never forget.
